The county of Wicklow, "The Garden of Ireland" is renowned for its grandeur and beauty. It is the home to many picturesque gardens including Powerscourt. This is one of Irelands foremost attractions set on 47 acres and home to Irelands highest waterfall. But there is far more to Wicklow than its gardens.
Wicklows coastline with her silvery sands is ideal for sailing, windsurfing and boating. Archaeological and historical remains number greatly in West Wicklow. Glendalough monastary dates from the eighth century and tells the story of St. Kevin and "Ireland of the manastaries" in its interpretive centre.
The Wicklow Way provides 132Km of walkways for the rambler through the Dublin mountains and by farms and stone-walled fields where wildlife and history is abundant.
Many talented craftspeople have made their homes in Wicklow famous for pottery, weaving, sheepskins, glasswork, jewellery, silverware and traditional handknits.
There are 20 golf corses in the county. Many all-year leisure activities including fishing with Wicklows many crystal streams and lakes (The meeting of the waters and Blessington lake). Many excellent pubs and scenery makes wicklow the ideal all year - all round holiday break location.
